Canada is certainly an amazing place due to the scenery and the culture. It is interesting to discover what has taken place in the past though to help shape it this way. There are certainly many individuals who deserve credit here. Most of them didn’t engage in these acts for the glory, but to help make their society a better place.
In 1842 Sir Charles Bagot became the Governor General of Canada. He entered into this position at time when tensions were very high with France. Unlike those leaders before him who continued to let things escalate, he sought out a solution. He believed that Canada and France could get along if there was an effort on both sides. He also wanted to keep the French Canadians happy. His solution was to include to French advisors to his counsel. This move proved to be very successful for Canada.
Mary Brant Tekonwatoni was a Native American woman who married a French man who had moved to Canada after the death of his first wife. She was a very big part of helping to bridge the bond between the French, Canada, and the Native Americans. One of her main responsibilities was to translate as she was able to speak all of the languages involved.
A great deal of the development of Canada is credited to an early explorer named John Palliser. He wasn’t afraid to go and find out what was unknown to others. He documented the geography of Canada including the plains, mountains, and rivers. The information he offered helped encourage people to settle in the area.
George Brown as a very influential figure in Canada as he was a journalist. He wasn’t afraid to talk about controversial issues and never based down in the face of censorship. He is honored as one of the founding fathers of Canada due to his many contributions. He was dedicated to seeing reform take place in order for all citizens of Canada to have the same opportunities.
There are many heroes, heroines, and pioneers of Canada. They have all done significant things to help Canada to become the wonderful place we know today. Many of them found plenty of resistance to their efforts. Yet they had a vision that they wants to see become reality. It is that quest and their dedication that have placed them forever in our history.
